My husband nicknamed me the PowerPoint Magician because I love the “magic” of PowerPoint.  I like to use PowerPoint’s native audio and video features to create Flash-like effects.  I call this technique “PowerPoint Sleight of Hand”.

Because of my quirky sense of humor and advanced skills, I am frequently sought out for my expertise on presentations, training and desktop publishing.  I teach classes on a variety of topics nationwide.

My Appalachian heritage prepared me for a creative career.  I was taught how to cook from scratch, sew, crochet, cross-stitch, embroider, and quilt from the cradle up.  I began my career life as a Navy mental health therapist.  It was exciting, but draining work.   In the early 1980’s, I became intrigued by the new computer industry.  I quickly made the leap from people to PCs.  I've  received multiple awards and recognition in my Navy and IT career.

My unique blend of originality, psychology and technical expertise has made me an expert in the field of electronic presentations, training and project management.  My credentials include:

  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)

  • Microsoft Certified PowerPoint and Word (MOS)

  • Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE)

  • Microsoft Certified Professional + Internet (MCP+I)

  • Certificate in Accessible Information Technology (EASI)

I'm a developer of educational learning games using PowerPoint.  In 2004 and 2005 I led workshops at the PowerPoint Live Conference.  In March 2005 I spoke at the Illinois Technology Conference for Educators and at the Georgia Educators Technology Conference in November 2005.

I've been a  Microsoft PowerPoint Most Valuable Professional since January 2004, primarily recognized for my expertise in Section 508 accessibility.

In 2002, I created and developed PowerPak for PowerPoint for FTC PublishingPowerPak is an innovative collection of lesson and game templates designed for educators, presenters and trainers.  In 2004 I followed it up with PowerPak Pro.  In 2006 I  developed PowerPak Plus+, a collection of learning game templates for individual study.  You can download your own free copy of the PowerPak samplers on the downloads section of this site.

I live near Charlotte, NC along with my daughter, Kira and the most spoiled family member, Luna, our solid white Siberian Husky.  My daughter Rhea, son-in-law, Philip and beautiful grandson, Elijah live in Atlanta, GA,  as do the majority of my close family and friends.
